Scrapbooking - Soccer Fun All Year Round
by Joy Swearingen
Quick Tip: You don't need to wait and begin your scrapbooking at the end of the soccer season if you don't want to. You can always set up base pages and then add to them as the season progresses. That may be your answer to scrapbooking overload!
Start with the pictures that you would like to use. You may need to sort through them to find 5-10 that are interesting and show the child's personality and talent. Be sure to include the team photo and individual soccer portrait as well.
If you also have the season schedule, awards received, newspaper clippings or other announcements, those will be useful as well. If you have any themed paper, stickers or stencils, those will need to be gathered as well to make the pages really interactive for the eye.
Think of quotes by your soccer player, coach, or research quotes online that are relevant to your page. These may be fun to include or may help explain the page in general.
Select a color scheme that matches the team colors. You can get creative with this and only use the colors on the border, in the corners, or on the whole page. You could also use the main color as a solid sheet and the use the additional color or colors for the writing or accents on the page. Remember: Since you are scrapbooking soccer - you can always use black and white!
Most likely you are creating these pages for a particular child to put in a family album. If so, you can have the child write some of their memories of the season or some of the basic information regarding the team. They could write down their coach's name and what they will remember most about them or what their friend's names were and what they were good at. You could also have them tell how they did on the team and what they want to work on for next season. These kinds of diary entries are great to take a look at in coming years and help to make the memory come alive.
Consider a 2-4 page layout for older kids so that you can include plenty of photos and information about how the team did during the season. For younger children, a 2 page layout should be plenty to capture your little one's finest soccer moments. Scrapbooking soccer or any sport should be fun, so be sure to get those creative juices flowing and work as a team to create beautiful memories together.
